FAQ’s

Please review our FAQ's below for tips on troubleshooting, maintenance and general operation of your equipment.

We recommend cleaning the air filters every 2 weeks. Wash the filters with water or clean them with a vacuum cleaner. (See the manual for details.) For heavy soiling, wash the filters with a neutral detergent diluted with tepid water and let the filters dry in a shady place. For more information, please visit :

Mechanical equipment will make sounds—some normal, and some not so normal. This section will help you identify the difference between what sounds healthy and what doesn’t when it comes to your Daikin mini-split.

Normal Sounds

  • Flowing water-like sound: Generated by the flowing refrigerant during cool or dry operation.
  • Blowing sound: Produced by switching the flow of refrigerant.
  • Ticking: Arises from slight expansions or contractions of the cabinet and frame due to temperature changes.
  • Whistling sound: Occurs during defrosting operation when refrigerant flows.
  • Clicking: Generated by the operation of refrigerant control valves or electrical components.
  • Clopping sound: When the exhaust fan activates while room doors are closed. Opening the window or turning off the exhaust fan will reduce this.

Unusual Sounds

  • Rattling or vibrating: Check if the heat pump is securely mounted and all screws and bolts are tightened. Loose components can produce vibrations. If the issue persists, contact a Daikin Pro to inspect and service the unit.
  • Grinding or squealing sound: These sounds often indicate problems with the blower motor or fan. Turn off the heat pump immediately and seek assistance from a Daikin Pro.
  • Check for error codes. (see instructions below)
  • Cycle the power of your system to reinstate communication between indoor and outdoor units.
  • Check again for error codes to see if any are still present.
  • If error codes or improper operating persist, please contact our office for a service appointment.

The remote controller can receive relevant error codes from the indoor unit.

When save is held down for about 5 seconds, “00” blinks in the temperature display section.

Press save repeatedly until a long beep is produced.

  • The code indication changes, and notifies with a long beep. Please take note of error code for when you arrange your service call.

When an error arises, turn both in and outdoor units off at the electrical panel, for 5-10 minutes. This should reset the communication between both units.

  • If the air inlet or outlet of the indoor or the outdoor unit is blocked with obstacles. Remove the obstacle to ensure it is well-ventilated.
  • If the air filter is clogged. Ask a qualified service person to clean the air filters
  • If the set temperature is not what intended, please adjust and make sure system beeps while you adjust temperature.
  • If the fan speed button is set to a low speed, please adjust up or down as required.
  • If direct sunlight enters the room (when cooling). Use curtains or blinds.

  • Check the thermostat: Ensure the thermostat is set to the desired temperature and in the correct mode (heat or cool). Also, check that the batteries in the thermostat are not depleted.
  • Dirty air filters: Clogged air filters can impede airflow and reduce the heat pump’s efficiency. Clean or replace the air filters regularly, usually every one to three months.
  • Outdoor unit blockage: Ensure that the outdoor unit is not obstructed by debris, vegetation, or snow. Clear away any obstructions to maintain proper airflow.
  • Refrigerant charge: Low refrigerant levels can affect heat pump performance. If you suspect a refrigerant leak, contact a Daikin Pro to repair and recharge the system.
  • Power supply: Check if the heat pump is receiving power. Ensure the circuit breaker or fuse is not tripped and that the remote controller for the indoor unit is in the “On” position.
  • Remote control settings: If your heat pump is controlled by a hand-held remote controller, check the batteries and ensure that the remote is transmitting signals properly.
  • Defrost cycle: During cold weather, heat pumps enter a defrost cycle to remove ice build-up on the outdoor unit. This cycle can cause the heating to stop temporarily. If the heat pump remains off for an extended period, contact a Daikin Pro for assistance.
